Maria & Sharon came on a spontaneous visit last week. I showed them the sights and sounds of Chicago, pictured here.

Thanks for the visit, guys!

The Sculpture. (pics of Chicago thanks to Louise!)
When I pictured Chicago, I pictured mostly huge, oily factories and rusted-out metal. I knew there were some pretty parts, of course, but I did not know it was this beautiful!! Thanks for coming down Louise – it gave me the perfect excuse to get more aquainted with the city and with my lovely sister-in-law!

The Crystal Gardens:

Yummy pizza!!!

Next day, we hiked out to the woods . . .
and met, among other things, a beaver and a blue heron!!

Pencil Sharpener at Work?

Can you see his lodge (I think) in the background?

Here’s the ambitious guy himself!!

This blue heron flew only a few feet away from me, and due to my surprise, I was a little slow on the draw.
Here’s the blur of blue wings:

Thanks for the visit, Louise!
